Gold Digger

Shorts and Tank; H&M Lace Bra;Urban Planet Sandals; Aldo

So I wasn't planning to put a post up tonight, but I walked over to Shoppers Drugmart on my break from work and found this gold nail polish. I buy at least 1 new colour every week, having Shoppers so close (especially when I'm bored at work) is very dangerous because I just want to buy make-up and nail polish! I decided to build an outfit around this nail polish wearing my Garden Collection shorts that I haven't worn yet but will definitely start. However, I shall go pack for the cottage, at least I'll have killer nails while I'm dressed like a bum all weekend.

Earthquake Ensemble

Jumper-H&M, Shoes-Spring, Hat-Costa Blanca,

K, well I wasn't wearing this during the earthquake but I felt like dressing up when I got home from work. It was kind of hard to smile for these pictures because I just got home from the dentist and I was frozen up to my eyeballs. I love this jumper, its beyond comfortable however it is permantely wrinkled, I have tried ironing it then quickly putting it on, and it instantly wrinkles the second I move... oh well.

SPRING/SUMMER TREND - MILITARY

Another hot trend for Spring/Summer 2010 is the MILITARY trend. The 18th Century and Victorian styled uniforms are all the rage for inspiration for this seasons trend. Military takes inspiration from past esthetics and translates it into modern, wearable and functional items.

Military has made its way into our lives season after season but for this Spring/Summer 2010 year, it has taken a new twist! MALE VERSUS FEMALE... hard edge pieces are mixed in with femine flares to create an androgenous appeal. Combat boots are seen paired with silk/chiffon blouses/rompers, and cargo skinny pants paired with luxurious furs.

Structure, color, and embellishments are the things to look for when hunting down military inspired items. Look for structured collars and shoulders with jackets and coats. Colors like army green, olive, navy blue and khaki are KEY colors of the trend. Antique gold/silver buttons, and zippers can create the military feel instantly!

Here are some of my favorite looks of the season...

SPRING/SUMMER TREND - SHEER

One of THE HOTTEST Spring/Summer trends of 2010 is SHEER fabrics. This season its all about pairing flowy sheer fabrics with constructed modest items. Seen on many celebrities, models off the runway and of course on the streets of London - sheer blouses, tops and tanks are often paired with denim of all styles and washes.

There's something so chic about the draping of sheer fabric, it just oozes effortless femininity that every girl longs for. Here are some of my favorites...

a girl should be two things

Yet another work outfit, although today I was feeling uber girly so I decided to rock lace, gold, bows and pearls. I apologize for the wrinkles in the skirt but I just got home from working as well as sitting in the dentist chair. (Although my earrings did catch the eye of the hygienist and dentist). I tried on my F21 booties with this outfit (below) but ultimately love the simple taupe pumps above for this look.

Though the temperatures are getting up there, with all of the rain and cool nights we've been having in Toronto, it's still nice to have some reliable outfits for those occurences.
Some of Shopbop's newest arrivals have struck a chord with me as the perfect choices.

Alexander Wang, assymetrical cropped pull over sweater, $375
The neutral colour palette makes it easy to match with a variety of outfits, and the oversized fit makes it perfect over any day time attire.

Vince Denim, ankle cargo skiny jean, $225
I love the olive colour, they have a military feel that is understated enough to be a classic.

Jeffrey Campbell, take draped wedge sandals, $168
The platform is astoundingly high but still extremely comfortable.

Tory Burch, rattan clutch, $275
This adorable clutch is large enough to carry all of the essentials but easy enough to carry. The durable exterior makes it ideal to take with you any and every where.

Marc by Marc Jacobs, house of cards woven court cards bracelet, $78
Just an adorable charm bracelet that's a little bit quirky.

Alex and Ani, holly vintage bohemian cocktail ring, $58
I just love the amount of vibrance this ring can bring to any outfit. The marbeled surface and turquoise stone have an eclectic feel, like a treasure you found in your mother's jewellery box.

Casual Friday

Jeggings, earrings-Forever 21, Boyfriend Button Up-Aritzia, Belt-Ardene, Flats-AE

So I wish I had a more exciting outfit that I could post for our first post, however today was a work day and since we had an office photo taken at our staff BBQ I thought I would keep it more basic. I just got these jeggings yesterday from Forever 21 for $14 and I love them so so much (even tho the dye turned my hands blue today) I also got those adorable bow studs from forever 21 that were quite the hit today. I've included a bit of my other Forever 21 finds as well :).
